Whimsical Selfie-Ready Seating Capsule Sculptures Coming To The Design District This Fall

Debuting in November, in time for this year's incarnation of Art Basel Miami Beach, the Design District is getting a set of "larger-than-life seating capsules with colorful, shaggy surfaces," a floating dome that looks like a disco ball, and "brightly hued wind chimes, hundreds of which will be hung like melody making ornaments," all by Miami-based architect Germane Barnes.

A Fake Pool in The Miami Design District is Taunting You During the Summer Olympics

Omega, the luxury watch brand, is celebrating the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, which began today, by dressing up their store in the Miami Design District and scattering big Olympic-themed kchotchkies around the neighborhood. One of those is a diorama-like display near the shape of a giant fake pool meant to be an ode to Olympic swimming. Out in the sweltering Miami heat, without water, is it just a big blue tease?

The House of Peroni Design District Pop-Up Was a Boozy Postmodernist Beer Penthouse

Above the Design District’s Palm Court, a third-floor special event space was occupied by the Italian brewery Peroni for a four-day pop up promotional event last week. Described by Peroni as “a platform to celebrate creativity in all its forms and an epicenter of modern culture rooted in the timeless ideals of Italian style,” the space was an ode to postmodernism.

Curvy White Palazzo Full of Italian Furniture Opens in the Miami Design District

A three-storied, white arched palazzo in Miami’s Design District is the new flagship showroom for the Italian furniture parent company of the Fendi Casa, Bentley Home, and Trussardi Casa brands, the Luxury Living Group. The company threw a lavish opening party on Thursday, having been rescheduled in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
