NEIGHBORHOOD: Midtown

Trader Joe's roomy new Midtown Miami store, which began construction at Gio Midtown back last June, is racing toward completion, as can be seen by a quick stroll by the new space. Peek in the window, and the store looks practically, almost, just barely complete. All that's seemingly missing is perhaps the last of the chain's signature visual flourishes, taking the plastic off the cash registers, and well, stocking the shelves, and boom. Although the store (#794) still hasn't announced an official opening date, the Big Bubble would not be shocked if it happens in the next week or two. Imagine moving into your beautiful new apartment in a building tricked out with all sorts of plush amenities in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Sure, moving would be a nightmare, and you wouldn't be able to use any of those amenities or common areas for an unspecified amount of time, per pandemic rules, but at least you'd have a brand new pad to quarantine in, right?

Tri-Rail is coming to Downtown Miami sometime next year. When you consider that South Florida’s commuter rail network is finally accessing South Florida’s urban core, this is big news no matter how you slice it. First, Tri-Rail will head into Downtown Miami by taking an east-west rail line at 73rd Street and then heading south on the Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) tracks, thereby connecting it with the MiamiCentral rail terminal. But this is only the beginning

The forthcoming Triptych Hilton Curio Collection Hotel, planned for the corner of 36th Street and N. Miami Avenue, across the street from Midtown Miami, is breaking ground in the second quarter of next year, according to Francisco Arocha, CEO of HES Group.

Too bad they keep rescheduling the grand opening party. This place looks pretty spectacular.
