Above the Design District’s Palm Court, a third-floor special event space was occupied by the Italian brewery Peroni for a four-day pop up promotional event last week. Described by Peroni as “a platform to celebrate creativity in all its forms and an epicenter of modern culture rooted in the timeless ideals of Italian style,” the space was an ode to postmodernism.
Although most definitely a high point in the annals of Italian design, postmodernism is quixotically a style that probably wouldn’t be the first to come to mind when most think of a particularly ‘timeless’ design. Not that being ‘of a time’ is bad at all. Timelessness isn’t everything, is it? The space, designed by Grammy award-winning musician ‘St. Vincent,’ was just a rather fun example of how Postmodernism how postmodernism is back in vogue. It really is fabulous.
