Arquitectonica’s Iconic First Building, the Babylon, is Being Demolished Now

Spaghetti western star Francisco Martinez-Celeiro, also known as George Martin, has gotten his way. One of Miami-based firm Arquitectonica’s first buildings, the Babylon, built in 1982, is being demolished by Mr. Celeiro, its longtime owner. The Biscayne Times says demolition is expected to be completed by July, but just walk past it, and the Babylon, once an icon of postmodernist architecture in Miami, is already a sad sight.

The House of Peroni Design District Pop-Up Was a Boozy Postmodernist Beer Penthouse

Above the Design District’s Palm Court, a third-floor special event space was occupied by the Italian brewery Peroni for a four-day pop up promotional event last week. Described by Peroni as “a platform to celebrate creativity in all its forms and an epicenter of modern culture rooted in the timeless ideals of Italian style,” the space was an ode to postmodernism.
