Event participants mingle among the artists, who love to watch the competitive excitement. The result is a fun way to place artwork into collections, connect with Miami’s art community, and support Locust Projects.

As a hallmark that makes Locust Projects stand out from other art venues, Locust Projects is Miami’s longestrunning alternative art space, celebrating twenty years of supporting artists and artistic experimentation. “There isno other fundraiser quite like this one. Smash & Grab has actively inspired and engaged Miami’s art communitysince 2003. Artists featured in Smash & Grab have exposure to top art collectors and art enthusiasts who each year vie for the limited number of tickets. Since its inception, we have seen art world newbies evolve into seasoned collectors, and artists featured at Smash & Grab have been sought out and championed by collectors who wereintroduced to them for the first time at Locust”, says Locust Projects’ new Executive Director, Lorie Mertes. TheSmash & Grab event is one of Locust Projects’ largest sources of revenue for the year and artists who donate receive a one-year pARTner membership which includes access to Locust’s LegalLink, pro bono legal services, as well as complimentary invites to Locust’s Spring Fling, one of Miami’s much-anticipated parties. This year submissions are open call to give more artists an opportunity to participate. Contact info@locustprojects.org for more info.
