A notoriously gaudy and gigantic mansion located in the town of Hillsboro Beach, next to Fort Lauderdale, known as both Playa Vista and Le Palais Royale sold at auction in November for a 'record setting,' price. However, the actual price itself was kept quiet by both buyer and seller until now, when the Sun Sentinel noticed that the sale had been recorded by the Broward County Property Appraiser, and made public record, revealing both the amount, and the buyer. It sold for $42.5 million.
After a weird five years of existence, the most gilded house in South Florida has finally sold. Formerly known as Le Palais Royale, a name that notched up the palatial factor ever higher, it appears to have been renamed Playa Vista Isle recently. Inspired by Versailles (obviously), it was designed by Miami-based architect Denio Madera.
Check out this joint! Listed four days ago, this house at 2040 Coral Reef Drive, in Lauderdale by the Sea, was designed by one of FTL's classic midcentury residential architects, Dan Duckman, and built back in 1963.
Downtown Miami is full of shiny new condo towers, but Downtown Fort Lauderdale is the land of the rental tower. There's Icon Las Olas. There's the New River Yacht Club. Then of course just to the north of Broward Boulevard, Flagler Village is incredibly rental-driven. Yet another one has hit the floor, this time south of the New River, with an expected groundbreaking of Q4 2018. So, late next year. Check it out:
This baronial pile, called Bella Fortuna, is close to Downtown Fort Lauderdale and on the market for $39 million, and—rather extraordinarily and sadly rare for a new build these days—the Mediterranean Revival architecture of this place is gorgeous. It's also the most expensive house currently on the market in Fort Lauderdale. But check out these 150 photos for the grand tour and decide for yourself.
