Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design is breaking ground Sept. 14th on the first residential building of the Dania Pointe megaproject, a mixed-use urban infill development in the heart of Dania Beach, according to the developer, Meyers Group. The megaproject is located adjacent to the Design Center of the Americas and the Bass Pro Shop.

Although the entire project is being done by multiple architects, Karp is handling all of the residential, which will eventually include upwards of 1,000 units, according to the Dania Pointe website. The entire project, some of which is already complete, will include residential, retail, dining, entertainment, and hotels. There will also be a bowling alley operated by national bowling alley chain Bowlmor Lanes.

This building, called Avery Dania Pointe, is being built in two phases. The first, an eight story tower with 264 rental units, with rates starting at $1,600/month and averaging around $2,100.  The second phase, with 336 units, will not begin until Phase I is at or near completion, according to the Sun Sentinel. The price point is expected to be attractive to tenants used to higher rents for new construction in South Florida downtowns.

UPDATE: The first version of this article said the building had already broken ground.
