Virgin Voyages Announces the Third ‘High Design’ Cruise Ship Terminal for the Port of Miami

Virgin Voyages, Sir Richard Branson's new cruise line sporting the eponymous Virgin brand, just unveiled its new terminal coming to the Port of Miami at a news conference at the Standard Hotel. Designed to look like a grove of minimalist palm trees, it's the third 'high design' terminal to come to PortMiami, after Royal Caribbean's recently completed Crown of Miami and the new terminal that Norwegian Cruise Lines is building.

Check Out the University of Miami’s New Architecture Studio Building, by Arquitectonica

The newest addition to the cluster of buildings that comprise the University of Miami School of Architecture will be unveiled at a ceremony on November 29th. Designed by iconic Miami-based firm Arquitectonica, the new 20,000 square foot architecture studio building is named after Thomas P. Murphy Sr., father of the founder of the construction firm that built the project, Coastal Construction.

Miami’s Next Major Art Museum Will be Unveiled Next Week

Three or four years ago Bruce Berkowitz, the head of Miami-based Fairholme Capital, an investment fund, undertook the creation of a new contemporary art space much like many of Miami's other privately-owned art museums. The art within would be particularly spectacular though. Located on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood, it would house two particularly important, incredible, and gigantic works of art: James Turrell’s Aten Reign and Richard Serra’s Passage of Time, along with many other works in his collection.

Notoriously Over-Gilded Hillsboro Beach Megamansion Sells for “Record Shattering” Undisclosed Price

After a weird five years of existence, the most gilded house in South Florida has finally sold. Formerly known as Le Palais Royale, a name that notched up the palatial factor ever higher, it appears to have been renamed Playa Vista Isle recently. Inspired by Versailles (obviously), it was designed by Miami-based architect Denio Madera.

The History of Miami’s Margaret Pace Park, and the Interesting Buildings That Surround It

One of Miami’s liveliest public spaces is Margaret Pace Park, at the south end of Edgewater, one of the city’s most rapidly transforming neighborhoods. Lined with towering residential towers on the west, and the shimmering blue waters of Biscayne Bay on the east, the park is a favorite of neighborhood residents. The park features basketball, tennis, a large playground, volleyball, sweeping lawns, public art, and a meandering baywalk with spectacular views of the bay.
