Virgin Voyages, Sir Richard Branson’s new cruise line sporting the eponymous Virgin brand, just unveiled its new terminal coming to the Port of Miami at a news conference at the Standard Hotel. Designed to look like a grove of minimalist palm trees, it’s the third ‘high design’ terminal to come to PortMiami, after Royal Caribbean’s recently completed Crown of Miami and the new terminal that Norwegian Cruise Lines is building.

Designed by Arquitectonica specifically for Virgin Voyage’s ships (the first ship to be announced, Scarlet Lady, has already been named) the 100,000 square foot terminal will be located at the northwest end of the port. Completion is planned for 2021, and until then Virgin will base Scarlet Lady at the existing Terminal F. It will be followed by a Virgin Hotel that Branson intends to build in Miami, which he also announced at the news conference.
