Boy, Lincoln Road has really jumped the shark. Look what’s coming: Capital One Bank, known for its silly but rather jarringly un-Lincoln Road-ish “What’s in Your Wallet?” commercials is apparently opening a cafe on Lincoln Road. Signage with the bank’s logo and the word ‘cafe’ is clearly visible at the construction site.
Maybe the bank wants to capitalize on all the crazy foot traffic on Lincoln Road. That doesn’t sound super appetizing, now does it? A bank directly on Lincoln Road sounds weird to begin with, but throw the cafe in and, well, come to your own conclusions. Of course they probably won’t only take Capital One credit cards at the register, but it’s the kind of situation where you wonder if… maybe they would?
There’s also one opening even sooner on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, another pedestrian zone although less thronged than Lincoln so a bank makes a little more sense. A bank/cafe mashup? Well, eh. So, if you’re wondering what the deal is, check out their grand opening down there. Here’s the Facebook event link, and a description of the opening night party, which, even though it’s during cocktail hour won’t have any cocktails. Whoever thought of this idea is a real winner.
We believe banking should fit your everyday life—not the other way around. That’s why we created this cool new Capital One Café for you at Miracle Mile.
