This historic Med Revival house, hidden behind hedges and oolitic limestone privacy walls, and nestled in the old growth Coconut Grove hammock, is located on land once owned by legendary orator and Grove resident William Jennings Bryan. It’s listed for $1.95 million.

Built in 1925, the 4 bedroom, 4 bath house is spread over 3,630 square feet. It has a main house and guest house, both with vaulted and beamed living rooms with fireplaces. The kitchen is barrel vaulted in red brick, and the bedroom ceilings are pecky Cyprus. However, the most interesting features of the house are undoubtedly outside, in the jungle-like yard. As you enter the enclosed property, you pass over a bridge that spans a large lagoon, with a waterfall and gazebo

Matching the lagoon is an even more spacious, free-form pool, nestled in under the dense foliage. Underground, a grotto-like wine cellar looks out into the pool below the waterline.

Although the house was just recently listed, 54 days ago to be exact, it was formerly listed for sale earlier this year for $1.999 million, a different of just $4,000 bucks. It’s flopped on and off the market at a few different price points, perhaps by a curious owner testing the shifting waters of the real estate market, since 2016.
