Dear Bass members and friends,

Over the last 53 years, The Bass has received generous funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Most recently, we received grants totaling $140,000 to fund Temporary Contemporary, a public art program for temporary outdoor projects, and to fund Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui. Support from the NEA made these exhibitions and projects possible, while furthering the museum’s ability to leverage other major grants and donations.

Elimination of NEA funding would deprive communities throughout the United States of much-needed art and art education programs. So today, I appeal to you, our community, to make your voice heard and to help stop the elimination of the NEA.

With only a $148 million annual budget – about 47 cents per person per year – NEA investments in the arts contribute to a nonprofit arts industry that generates $135 billion in economic activity annually, supports 4.1 million jobs across communities large and small, and generates $22.3 billion in government revenue.

Please invest a few minutes of your day in this worthwhile action. You can make a difference in many ways, beginning with a few listed below.
