The historic Morningside house known locally as the home where Laura Cushman, the founder of the nearby private Cushman School, lived just hit the market six days ago for a very nice six million dollars, having last sold way back in 2007 for a comparatively modest two million. The classic Mediterranean Revival spread has been fantastically restored and comes with plenty of very lovely features, such as a rather grand living room, a sun room with beamed ceilings, a fireplace with an elaborate mantle to match the even more elaborately carved front door surround, wood floors, a lush backyard, and a pool. The two-bedroom guest house mentioned in the listing is actually an apartment above the garage, which is a common feature of Morningside’s older and grander homes. More recently, the house was owned by a well-known and very successful Miami restaurateur who shall remain nameless because the Big Bubble knows the family and went to school with his kids (at Cushman School, coincidentally), and we have too much class to blab like that.
