One of Miami’s most anticipated new residential projects, Park Grove, has been completed. Well, two thirds of it is done at least. Construction of Two Park Grove and Park Grove Club Residences has just wrapped up and been unveiled, while One Park Grove, the tower closest to the bay, remains under construction. It will be done next year.

As you enter, the great lobby is, as Architectural Digest notes, in true Miami style. A grand staircase sweeps up and away, and art is at every turn. The buildings are stuffed with art, and even include a sculpture park. Art pieces by Juame Plesna and Michele Oka Doner are included.

“We really considered a home for some of the more sculptural, large-scale pieces,” Gray Davis, of the interior design team Meyer Davis, told Architectural Digest. “A lot of the furniture works well with not only the architecture but also the art in the project.”

“For us, the furnishing and decorative element of the building complements the architecture, but we also wanted to reflect the lighthearted and bohemian informality of Coconut Grove,” said Will Meyer. “So there’s an elevated quality to the interiors, but it’s definitely informed by the culture of Coconut Grove.”

The original design was six cylindrical towers, but in the end the requirements of efficiency and design created a three-tower project, the first two being two cylinders merged together and the third being a larger single, slightly squished, cylinder. Project architect Shohei Shigematsu says the shapes were inspired by Christo and Jean-Claude’s iconic Surrounded Islands project that transformed Biscayne Bay in the 1980s.

“It really demarcated the organic landscape of this area,” Shigematsu told AD. “So we thought that merging the two tubes creates a resemblance to the islands in Biscayne Bay, and also starts to truly show the landscape features that are around this area.”

In the heart of Coconut Grove, one of Miami’s oldest neighborhoods, Park Grove was designed by OMA, under the aegis of internationally renowned starchitect Rem Koolhaas, with Shohei Shigematsu as project architect. The interiors are by Meyer Davis and the landscaping design is by Enzo Enea. Park Grove was a partnership between Terra Group and the Related Group, two of Miami’s biggest developers.
