The Related Group's SLS Lux Brickell was recently completed. Here's a sneak peek inside. Of course it's flashy and gorgeous, and huge, and similar (perhaps too similar) to many of Related's other projects.
I received an email from a very Danish and adorable sounding publicist about a little something that happened during Art Basel, a month late. But nonetheless, there's a new artistic addition to Miami up on the pool deck of the SLS Brickell. It's, well, a very jazzed up duck.
El Tucán, that magnificent cabaret in Brickell, with its elaborate live floor shows, has had a renovation to allow it to become a nightclub with dancing later in the evening. Of course, the cabaret shows will continue, and now they have a dance floor for those shows to spill out on too. This is what is called a 'floor show.' And floor shows are incredible. Let's hope for a few numbers with ladies in very big headdresses.
Instagram user Michael Menchero, who goes by the tag Menchee, has shot many of Miami's best and lesser known works architecture to create incredibly immersive abstract stills and videos. Not always easily recognizable as buildings in Miami, or even buildings at all, trying to identify which condo tower, hotel, or office building each one is can be pretty entertaining. Menchero never identifies the structures, but he does at least say what city they're in (which is helpful because his work goes beyond Miami). And sometimes he throws a subtle little joke in, like making one particularly luxurious condo blast off into space. Below is a selection of really just a few of his best works, while many, many more are on Instagram.
