El Tucán, Brickell’s High-Kicking Cabaret, is Now a Nightclub Too

El Tucán, that magnificent cabaret in Brickell, with its elaborate live floor shows, has had a renovation to allow it to become a nightclub with dancing later in the evening. Of course, the cabaret shows will continue, and now they have a dance floor for those shows to spill out on too. This is what is called a ‘floor show.’ And floor shows are incredible. Let’s hope for a few numbers with ladies in very big headdresses.

The Edition Hotel’s Forum is Becoming a ‘Vaulted Elliptical Mirror Maze’ by Artist Es Devlin for Art Basel

American Express has sponsored artist Es Devlin to create an immersive, site-specific installation in the Forum of the Miami Beach Edition hotel that they’re calling a “vaulted elliptical mirror maze.” Room 2022 will be open to the public from December 7th to 10th. Judging by renderings and press photos of his work, the installation looks incredible.

When the 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach was first announced, like four or five years ago by now, I think I was pretty skeptical. It was yet another high-budget renovation of that gigantic barn of a building formerly known as the Roney Palace, then the Gansevoort, then the Perry—a monolithic behemoth built in the late 1960s—and what’s worse was they were only redoing half of it! However, I was completely proven wrong.
